For those of us who are from the Northeast, we know what Mischief Night is. Essentially, the night before Halloween is a night to play some practical jokes on people, create a little havoc. Flaming bags of dog doo on the door step. Dog poo or shaving cream under the car door handle. Removing a police car door. Toilet paper that looks like a rope across the street. “After calling 311 to have graffiti removed from various street lamps, it was stated that currently there is no contract to remove any graffiti from street lamps by the DOT. Inquiring further, I was told that the City of New York will not remove the graffiti since the property falls under DOT. If I try and remove the graffiti myself, it is considered private property and against the law.

Last weekend I had the privilege to address the 18th annual Marian Conference in Boyne Falls, Michigan. Among the other speakers was my high school classmate, the Most Reverend Alexander K. Sample, Catholic Bishop of Marquette, Michigan. It was such a joy to visit with Bishop Sample, who I had not seen in over 30 years.
